Asbestos

Asbestos is a strong and incombustible/fireproof fiber that was widely used in the past decades in heat resistant and fire fighting materials. Due to its fire retardant properties, asbestos was used in insulation, ship building, automobile, and construction and cement industries.

It is found in form of silicate fibers that are very light in weight and can easily travel by air. These fibers or dust particles of asbestos are easily inhaled or swallowed and cause various diseases including asbestosis, a chronic lung disease; mesothelioma, cancer of the lining of lungs, chest and stomach and other deadly diseases.

We have compiled some articles on asbestos that discuss its dangers, types and how it can affect human life.
